The digital manual as a metaphor for the same sail under cover of Digital

An expression is never neutral. Accept uncritically that of "digital textbook" does not mean only the authorization to a simple expression, but rather to broader issues. The paradox is maintaining the expression of manual that describes a structure and thus easily manipulable practice but is primarily a symbol of domination editorial on Education. It's not digital textbooks that we need much less digital artifacts improved from a paper version. These manuals crushing student literally as figuratively, preventing them from constructing and individuate.

The digital offers us instead the opportunity to rid ourselves of a system outdated and expensive and highly polluting at the same time. Tons of paper and ink wasted is enormous in terms of their actual educational and pedagogical significance. They are also the symbol of the disempowerment of teachers for once transformed into real machines to make copies ... instead of building themselves what educational work (work for which they are paid yet), making them also the first true imitators of the school system and has been for a long time. This does not mean they should not share and retrieve work colleagues, on the contrary, but provided that this occurs in a more efficient and transparent devices via online courses and sharing platforms documents in which each teacher could make a stone building, offering new versions. One might imagine that the CNDP is leading this new vision by providing the teachers with obstacles such as hosting and technical maintenance applications, CMS and LMS. Man or machine? What technical culture?

The opposition man-machine is a decoy. It is also more of an association even though it can sometimes be harmful, that is to say, falling more or dissociation of proletarianization which occurs at least a loss of knowledge and expertise. I return here on these aspects using a few passages of my doctoral research work. The technique is constitutive part of culture that many researchers in various disciplines have already begun to show.

Bernard Stiegler points and the highly technical nature of culture and its role in the formation of memory:

Culture is nothing but the ability to inherit from the collective experience of our ancestors and this has been long understood. What has been less understood is that the art (...) is the condition of such transmission. [1]

To review the place of art, a return on the work of Gilbert Simondon is necessary. It seems to us that we should particularly remember precisely the elements of transition from minority to majority as regards the technical culture. Gilbert Simondon describes two positions in the type of relationships we have vis-à-vis technical objects: a minor and one major. These two positions must be differentiated from both wish to avoid pitfalls that Simondon: technophobia and techno-, positions are only indicative of non-integration of art and culture:

The ideas of enslavement and liberation are too much related to the former status of man as a technical subject in order to match the real problem of the relationship between man and machine. It is necessary that the technical subject is known in itself that the relationship between man and machine becomes stable and valid: hence the need for technical knowledge. [2]

Simondon defines culture as a technical mediation, that is to say, as a way to act in an environment. This implies an evolutionary humanism, not frozen:

Similarly, technologies cited as liberating through the progress of the Enlightenment, are now accused of enslaving man and reduce him to slavery in the denaturant, making it alien to itself by specialization is a barrier and a source of misunderstanding. The focal point became the principle of partitioning. It is therefore beyond the opposition between culture and technology, opposition still present and active:

This opposition between culture and technology leads to a particular form of contempt for those qualified technicians. These tensions are found in many fields and professions. This applies to regularly elsewhere in the fields of literature and libraries, where there is opposition between proponents of general education and those who argue for greater consideration of vocational skills in particular For competition [5]. We note that very often also contempt, it is simply ignorance or an admission of incompetence on the matter.

Finally, the lack of technical culture is explained by the difficulty in finding the right distance. Apple and its instruments of flattery

I did not have much to add to Narvic about the positioning of Apple and the fact that the ambitions of the mercantile apple really have nothing to envy to those of Windows. IPAD is not a real innovation.

A science of collective intelligence?

Collective intelligence can it be a science project and if so which one. It now occupies Pierre Levy for several years.

His last article deserves special consideration beyond the cliches which it often. It is true that some works exhibited questionable outlook, including the world philosophy that was primarily for my taste too positive vision of the future, forgetting the fact malicious elements (as observed aptly Yann Leroux on twitter). But it is probably unique to Pierre Levy have a utopian vision of humanity and we must admit that it changes us prophets technophobes and this obliges us to think ahead.

Here are my few thoughts on the text whose purpose is to provide a summary but rather an attempt to put forward some points that I found important. This remains a subjective reading.

The article may be read in different ways. I do not think Pierre Levy succeeds in convincing his usual detractors who will project (perhaps wrongly) the veil cybernetics (which often projects Celine Lafontaine as to suggest a cybernetic empire), or the mystical veil which blew the cap the most rigorous scientists (see also the position of Dominica Rabeuf). It is true that the expression of noosphere that can be taken a little annoying. I think that this expression gives a poor account of the scientific project in motion and especially commits an error which is that the impression of too sharp a separation of body and mind which is not the goal.

The text can fully understand the objectives of IEML who remained obscure even if sometimes the desire for a new language or ideograph is a longstanding presence in Levy.

The output of false ideas about collective intelligence:

For my part, I have often been cautious with the collective intelligence because of its side a bit idealistic. Peter Levy provides some interesting answers here especially to counteract the speeches as the crowds are mainly carrying stupidity. It is clear that such thinking is false otherwise our society would be much advanced and the man would have remained "a wolf to man". Levy retranslated many developments permitted by the techniques used collectively (which joins the famous culture technique Simondon):

Crisis of reading or literacy? ... The crisis of the permanent crop

At a time when we talk about a crisis of reading or that questions the relevance ranking of Pisa, I want to come back around on some aspects of literacy (see also here) and the concept of crisis which is often associated.

Despite criticism that can be done in Pisa rankings, I still think it is a fake trial and that the Finnish model is not imaginary because it has probably worked more other ways to read and d 'write and try to relate the knowledge rather than explode. Other hand, Finland is not an imaginary but trainer r e r e trainer implying organizational and institutional reconstruction.

So I mention this passage in the problem of the crisis of literacy:

Harvey Graff (1) has highlighted a crisis in literacy. There are three major trends that are all three linked historically with the concept of crisis.

  • The essential skills (reading, writing and arithmetic) and their actions in terms of student performance are always the challenge of speech or catastrophic alarmist and join the perpetual fear of lower level.
  • The close relationship among literacy and basic skills with moral education and citizenship. The speeches of these skills are a prerequisite for the proper functioning of society.

Graff believes that the latter notion of literacy is planning several performances often linked to education, hence the talk of crisis that accompanies it. The concept is often poorly explained and reflections are concentrated mainly around issues of educational, cultural and social. We find indeed an obsession with evaluation and measurement of these literacies. However, it seems that precisely the boundaries and definitions are too vague to make a measurement, which leads to the crisis in education described by Hannah Arendt in 1960:

The isolation of blogs?

I finished reading last night's book Frank Rébillard "Web 2.0 perspective".

The book is interesting even if it remains too embedded in my taste on a socio-economic development. However, it was announced in the subtitle. It focuses primarily on the speeches which he demonstrates the ins and outs and deserves to break some myths by presenting to a wider historical perspective. Narvic had already spoken.

But it is particularly a passage that has tilt because it is another paradox of Web 2.0 is the distinguished community of insiders rather isolated as the speech to argue the opposite to the emergence of a participation where everyone is on the same plane. When you're in the middle, you learn a lot and met quite easily (thanks to many hours of work) the different needs that I already mentioned before.
